A delightful sweet blend of mango and orange flavoring makes this drink popular in all regions. It has been a core flavor for years. Here is a little background about the mango fruit. The word Mango is known to be derived from the Portuguese word Manga back in the 15th century. You can find a multitude of mango trees growing throughout the Hawaiian islands. Some are more than 300 years old and still bear fruit. The leaves are evergreen and there are over 500 varieties with most fruit ripening in the summer. The fruits can be round, oval, or kidney-shaped and usually grow to 4" to 6" in length and can be green, yellow, or reddish in color. The skin is waxy smooth and fragrant.
Mango trees thrive in any tropical climate region and Hawaii's climate is ideal for home growing and processing. In 2016 the world production of mangoes was a staggering 46.5 million tons. It is no wonder it is well known globally and consumed in many countries.
The versatility of mango is evident when used to make chutney, jams, jellies, fruit salads, pies, pickled mango, dried mango and shredded mango, etc. The uses are limited only to your imagination. All Hawaiian Sun tropical drinks have been made in Hawaii since 1952.
